Interestingly, I had recently listened to the audio of what I think was a Skype conversation with Marta from around 2013. The Sal Dano Actors Workshop was his, or was started in his name or honor. Neither IMDB or Wikipedia made mention of her marriage to Sal Dano, I believe his given name was Salvatore Giardano, I'm sure I've got the spelling wrong. I noticed after the thread here and within a few days Wikipedia had added Died: to the section on the right but at the top of her page it still read "Marta Dubois is a Panamanian actress" - so which is it? Died has since been removed, around the 14th. That was in the early 80's, just after the show finished. We got to meet Greg Boyington at the Reno Air Races when I was a kid and he signed my dad's copy of his book. My Father loved Baa Baa Black Sheep, and I've seen every one of them more than once. Bellisario used half of the MPI cast, it seems! I had watched it as a kid and loved it then. I purchased Tales of the Gold Monkey several years ago. I've seen a handful of these episodes over the years, but not the full series. Soon I will be watching the (Baa Baa) Black Sheep (Squadron) series featuring Larry Manetti (and the above-mentioned John Laroquette) and Jeff MacKay. At some point, I will post my short analysis of TGM. Though Marta only appeared in a few MPI episodes, she was of course a pillar in TM's character. That episode, Mourning Becomes Matuka, featured Marta's character (Princess Koji), faking her death. Strangely/coincidentally, I had recently been watching the one and only season of Tales of the Gold Monkey for the first time, and watched the last episode of the series just last Thursday. Her loyalty is a bit off and she only seems to go to Magnum whenever she needs him to do something for her. She definitely seemed like a completely different actress without her 80's hairdo and "Michelle" accent. Shermy wrote:I was flipping around a few weeks ago and noticed Marta Dubois on an episode of Walker, Texas Ranger. It was more like watching two people who had bought some land together in the past, and periodically got together to try and decide what to do with it. She just seemed way too snobby to be mixed up with someone like Magnum. You could easily believe that he would fall in love with her and want to protect her at all costs.īut Michelle? Meh. Kristen Carreira was an adorable little girl who perfectly fit the part of Magnum's daughter. I guess she just had a particular look that didn't really age very well (unlike Dubois herself).īy comparison, look at Magnum's relationship with Lily Catherine. I always felt Magnum acted more out of loyalty to his marriage than anything else. She definitely seemed like a completely different actress without her 80's hairdo and "Michelle" accent.īut it's interesting to see other fans critical of her as Michelle (see also the "Little Girl Who" thread), because I never fully bought her as Magnum's one true love, either. I was flipping around a few weeks ago and noticed Marta Dubois on an episode of Walker, Texas Ranger. Is everyone still getting residuals from reruns on Sleuth, not to mention wherever else they may be playing? Aren't they still on some channels in L.A.? Where else, locally? More than Roger and Larry are doing these days. GMWAS as to Michelle! But Marta's okay, I'd venture, and kudoes to her from continuing to work. So I back off from my criticism of Marta DuBois and reinforce it as it relates to Michelle. She didn't write the lines or direct herself into such an unappealing witch. Sorry if I was taking out my dislike of Michelle on the actress playing the role. Maybe it's just the Michelle character I don't like. So I think I can like her as an actress in another role. And SHE sure doesn't look 20 years older!! Gotta give her credit for THAT! (she does look at least 10 years older, but not 20 - say she was 35 when she made MPI - she now looks darned good at 55, if that's her age!) So as an "American" character, and I think a cop, isn't she? - anyway, I don't automatically dislike her in this show. She's really almost unrecognizable without that Brillo explosion hairdo, and she doesn't have the accent. She is a much more likeable character in this show, which is also, what?, 20 years post-MPI. I'm sitting here watching another McBride movie on Sleuth Channel and Marta DuBois as a blonde is McBride's sort-of girlfriend again.
